Psychiatric Technician (Central Staffing Office)

Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Limited Term, Full-time, Psychiatric Technician (Safety) for the Central Staffing Office (CSO). The position is currently a 12-hour NOC shift with work hours 1830-0700 and can be changed at any time to meet the staffing needs of the Hospital. The position is under the general supervision of the CSO Unit Supervisor. Limited term appointments can be filled up to 12 months, may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

This position requires the ability to prioritize assignments and multitask efficiently. Candidates should be able to manage a high paced environment. Knowledge of the hospital’s staffing policy and basic computer skills are essential to this position. Teamwork is also an essential component for this high paced position. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be able to problem solve any staffing issues that will require good nursing judgement aside from technical skills. Job duties will include data entry into the ASSIST, management of the staffing for each program, collaborating and utilizing hospital resources to staff other areas of the hospital, provide training to end users with the ASSIST, trouble shoot any problems in the ASSIST and verify overtime hours worked.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
