Job Summary

We are seeking a Banker in San Mateo, CA for a direct hire opportunity within a professional, customer-focused banking environment. This role is ideal for a banking professional with teller, new accounts, and client service experience who enjoys building relationships, recommending financial solutions, and supporting daily branch operations.

The Banker will assist clients with new consumer and business accounts, teller transactions, account maintenance, product recommendations, and service inquiries. The role also includes meaningful community involvement through CRA volunteer participation.

Key Responsibilities

- Open, maintain, and close consumer accounts, business accounts, CDs, IRAs, and other deposit products based on experience level.
- Interview and profile clients to understand their financial needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services.
- Cross-sell bank products, identify referral opportunities, and support branch growth and profitability goals.
- Process teller transactions as needed while maintaining accurate balancing and documentation standards.
- Respond to client inquiries in person and by phone with professionalism, urgency, and excellent customer service.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies, procedures, documentation requirements, BSA guidelines, and applicable banking regulations.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay range: $20.00 to $31.90 per hour.
- Direct hire opportunity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Open and support new consumer accounts and basic or complex business accounts.
- Process teller transactions, account maintenance, documentation uploads, and client service requests.
- Cross-sell banking products and refer clients to internal partners when appropriate.
- Support compliance with bank procedures, BSA requirements, information security standards, and documentation rules.

- Minimum of 1 year of banking teller experience required.
- Experience opening consumer accounts required.
- Experience with basic business accounts required for higher-level placement.
- Strong customer relations skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and employees.
- Working knowledge of banking products, account titling, required documentation, and branch procedures.
- Ability to handle confidential information with sound judgment and accountability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and banking software or core banking systems.
- Positive, cooperative, service-oriented attitude with the ability to resolve client concerns tactfully.

Preferred Qualifications

- 2 or more years of banking teller experience for advanced New Accounts/CSR III consideration.
- 3 or more years of banking experience for senior-level consideration.
- Experience opening complex business accounts, Trust and Estate Accounts, CDs, and IRAs.
- Prior supervisory experience for senior-level placement.
- Familiarity with Treasury Services such as remote deposit capture, armored service, or courier service.
- Strong knowledge of BSA, information security, and new account regulatory requirements.
