Lead AI Engineer

Essential Functions:
Lead and mentor a team of engineers focused on developing advanced AI and machine learning solutions.
Design, implement, and optimize low latency and high throughput systems that are highly available and scalable.
Drive architecture decisions and best practices for deploying machine learning models into production environments.
Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to deliver robust AI-powered applications.
Ensure systems are monitored and maintained for performance, reliability, and security.
Utilize orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Nomad for container management and deployment.
Work with fast data stores and high-performance messaging systems, including Rust.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications
- 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning applications in production environments.
- Strong programming skills with a focus on Rust and experience with high frequency trading, level low latency communication technology.
- Proven track record of leading or driving engineering teams to successful project delivery with Generative AI.
- Solid understanding of system design for low latency, high throughput, and highly available applications.
- Experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Nomad.
- Expertise in monitoring and maintaining production systems for reliability and performance.
- Familiarity with fast data stores and distributed systems architecture.
- Knowledge of additional orchestration and monitoring tools.
- Contributions to open-source projects or published work in machine learning or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms.
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is $215,300 to $344,600 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
