Research Specialist / TSRI - Stem Cell Core / Full-time / Days

Overview Schedule: Days with weekends as needed. Purpose Statement/Position Summary: TSRI's Stem Cell Core is a centralized support facility for the entire research community whose primary mission is to facilitate stem cell research, innovation, and interactions to ensure the success of funded research projects. The services of the core are essential by supporting research community and intra and extramurally funded research. The Research Specialist assists faculty and staff in designing and implementing research projects. Independently plans, prepares, and conducts a wide variety of routine and non-routine (complex) laboratory procedures. Oversees multiple projects at a time. Records, tabulates, and analyzes data and assists with and provides expertise in the preparation of papers, posters, and scientific publications. Assists in training laboratory personnel. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Candidates must meet one of the following sets of criteria: Required: Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field 5 or more years of experience performing independent laboratory research experiments. OR Master's degree (or higher) in a related scientific field (e.g., biology, microbiology, biochemistry, psychology)3 or more years of experience performing independent laboratory research experiments Strongly Desired Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in cell culture techniques.
- Hands-on work with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), including: Maintenance of iPSC lines, expansion and scaling of cultures, and differentiation into specific cell types.
- Strong understanding of stem cell biology and reprogramming methodologies.
- Ability to perform quality control (QC) and maintain detailed documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple research teams.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn new techniques as the Core evolves.
- Teaching and training experience.
- Technical proficiency in: Immunostaining and microscopy, and flow cytometry, including sample preparation and data analysis.
- Experience with gene editing techniques (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9) to support future expansion of Stem Cell Core capabilities.
- Familiarity with basic molecular biology workflows and lab automation tools.
- Hands-on experience with quantitative PCR (qPCR), and DNA, RNA, and protein isolation.
- Proven dedication to training excellence.
