Temporary Volunteer & Event Program Coordinator

For a senior leader (i.e. direct report to the President, Chancellor or Health System CEO), provides leadership and professional expertise for units at the highest levels of administration at the University. Develops and administers systems for managing information, projects and communications throughout unit; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Significant barriers to entry exist at this level (e.g., may require the approval of senior leadership).
Under the general direction of the Director of Alumni Engagement, this role supports alumni relations efforts through the planning and execution of programs, events, and services that foster meaningful connections with alumni and key constituencies, including students, parents, the campus community, and the broader public. The position collaborates with internal and external partners, stewards and supports volunteers, and provides project management across multiple engagement initiatives - including, but not limited to, alumni chapters, regional events, Young Alumni, career support, and student engagement.
Qualifications:Required:
- Previous volunteer management, nonprofit/event experience.
- Previous experience with volunteer interfacing and event planning.
- Advanced knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge of federal regulations such as FERPA.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of common organization-specific computer applications.
- Strong analytical / problem-solving skills.
- Political acumen and sensitivities to the differing perspectives and political circumstances within all levels of the organization as well as the Office of the President and external constituencies.
- Advanced service orientation.
- Strong skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, alumni / donors, students and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
- Advising and counseling skills.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Ability to use a high level of discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
- Small to mid-level project management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Previous volunteer management, nonprofit/event experience

Pay Rate: $36.88/hour

TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT
This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. Interviewing and hiring is based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate's experience matches the assignment requirements. Certain temporary assignments may require clearance of a health physical or require a valid California Driver’s License for driving university vehicles.
The majority of our temporary positions are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. We also have occasional part-time, weekend, and evening hours available, depending on the assignment. Comprehensive benefits options are also available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
