Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist

As a Veterinary Assistant at Better Health Animal Hospital, you will support our veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality medical care. Your role will involve assisting with medical procedures, providing excellent patient care, and ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital.

Job Type:

Full time / part time

Expected Hours:

20-40 hours / week

Schedule:

M-F, Day Shifts, Saturdays as needed

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures and patient care.

- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked.

- Restrain and handle animals safely and compassionately.

- Perform basic laboratory tests and collect samples for analysis.

- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.

- Provide support during surgeries, including preparation and monitoring of patients.

- Educate pet owners on general pet care, preventive health measures, and post-treatment care.

- Maintain accurate patient records and update client information.

- Assist with front desk duties, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments as needed, and checking in/out clients.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in veterinary assisting is preferred.

- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic is a must. Interest and experience with brachycephalic breeds is a plus.

- Willingness to learn and contribute to the team

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments with care and compassion.

- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

- Proficiency with computer systems and office software.

- A strong commitment to animal welfare and a desire to learn and grow in the veterinary field.
