Job Summary:
Service is the foundation of everything we stand for at Vail Resorts and our Ski Patrol team is no exception to ensuring this experience of a lifetime. Responsible for promoting the safety and security of staff and guests on the mountain, Ski Patrol are alert and dependable professionals focused on promoting safety with the ability to remain calm in a crisis when incidents arise.
Job Specifications:
- Starting Wage: $24.64/hr - $35.20/hr
- Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2026/2027
- Shift Type: Full Time hours available
- Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age
- Housing Availability: No
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead department team members in assigned roles
- Promote guest safety on varied terrain with varying winter weather conditions
- Assist injured/ill guests on the mountain
- Transporting injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan or supporting air lift operations
- Maintain trails, including hazard identification and setting up closures, safety materials, and other impacts from the resort environment
- Transporting supplies and heavy equipment to areas of need
- Performing closing procedures at the end of the day to ensure that all guests are safely off the mountain
- Enforcement of the Skier Responsibility Code and Resort Policies
- Chairlift and guest evacuation
- Operating snowmobiles to various areas of the mountain, as needed
- Supervise and administer training
- Demonstrates effective communication skills and strong guest service skills
- Interface with and be a liaison for other departments involved with ski area operations
- Act as a leader and coordinate all aspects of Specialist Department in coordination with direct Supervisor
- Support daily ski patrol operation and perform ski patrol duties
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years of previous patrol experience preferred
- Current California (E) blasters license
- EMT-B or higher medical certification – Required
- Pass resort Ski Patrol sponsored ski test, capable of skiing all types of terrain under all weather conditions.
- Must be able to communicate fluently in English
- Must have excellent guest service skills
- Must be able to work in inclement weather in a mountain environment
- Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills – Required
- Ability to effectively work within a team – Required
- Time Management & organizational skills – Required
- Leadership ability – Required
- Strong Decision making skills – Required
- Competent with Windows based programs; specifically, Microsoft Office - Required
- Expert skiing/riding skills - Required
The expected pay range is $24.64/hr - $35.20/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
