Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform (San Francisco)
About the Role
In this role as a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be the architect of our Data Platform's future, crafting a system that not only meets our current data needs but scales seamlessly with our ambitions. You'll work closely with high-level Engineering and Product Management teams to develop a strategy that combines technical expertise with our core mission: Uniting everyday people to unlock their financial progress . This position involves reimagining the data infrastructure, fostering innovation, and playing a key role in powering Chime's data-driven journey.
The base salary for this role ranges from $198,990 to $281,900, with additional benefits including bonuses, equity, and comprehensive health plans. Actual compensation may vary based on location, skills, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and alignment with business goals.
- Design scalable, robust architecture for our Data Platform, incorporating emerging technologies.
- Ensure system resilience, fault tolerance, and develop critical components like data lakes, warehouses, and real-time pipelines.
- Develop a long-term vision for the Data Platform, including performance metrics and strategic initiatives with implementation roadmaps.
- Improve data retrieval efficiency and implement caching strategies to optimize performance.
- Establish coding standards, oversee code reviews, and create data management and governance policies.
To thrive in this role, you have
- Expertise in designing scalable data platform architectures.
- Proficiency with data infrastructure components such as data lakes and warehouses.
- Experience with real-time data processing pipelines.
- Knowledge of data governance and management policies.
- Hands-on experience with Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Kubernetes.
- Strong skills in SQL, and proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
