SENIOR ENGINEER WATER RESOURCES (Specialist)

Job Description and Duties

The Senior Engineer Water Resources, in a non-supervisory staff specialist capacity, serves as the Scheduling Support Unit specialist. It provides decisional support on the scheduling of water operations, performing operational studies, assessing potential water supply impacts, developing operational scheduling, and processes/tools that increase and improve the State Water Project (SWP) operations.

This position requires that the incumbent work independently on projects; work cooperatively with others; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; exercise good judgment; maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance; and promote, enhance, and maintain safety in the workplace.

Special Requirements

Must be willing to work sometimes outside of normal business hours, travel, and stay overnight in various locations throughout the State of California.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Possesses knowledge and/or experience on the SWP and Delta operations, environmental and flood control regulations, and water resource engineering, including model evaluations, hydrology, hydraulics, writing reports, communication, and coordination.
