Job Description

Okta is looking for an AI Governance Program Manager to join our newly formed AI Strategy team. Okta has ambitious goals for responsible and scalable AI adoption, and this role will be central to enabling safe, speedy, and compliant use of AI across the company.

This is a brand-new role with significant opportunity to innovate and build the foundational processes, policies, and education that will guide how AI is used at Okta. You will lead the AI governance committee, partnering closely with stakeholders across Security, Legal, Privacy, Sustainability, Business Technology, and other functions to help maintain our AI use policy, evaluation standards, and review procedures.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced program manager who thrives in cross-functional decision-making environments, can translate technical and regulatory considerations into actionable guidelines, and has a proven ability to drive organization-wide enablement. You’ll create and manage a risk/impact scoring system for AI use cases, streamline reviews into existing business processes, and develop centralized documentation and self-serve resources for employees.

This role reports to the VP of AI Strategy.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the AI governance team, overseeing the review and approval process for AI use case requests across the company

• Partner with Security, Legal, Privacy, Sustainability, Business Technology, and other key teams to maintain AI use policy, large language model evaluation standards, and review procedures

• Design and implement an AI risk/impact scoring framework for inbound requests

• Integrate AI governance reviews into existing operational processes to improve efficiency and scalability

• Create and maintain central documentation, self-serve guides, and enablement resources for employees

• Act as a primary liaison between the AI Strategy team and internal governance stakeholders

What you’ll bring to the role

• Proven experience in a PMO or program management role, with a track record of running cross-functional decision-making forums

• Experience partnering with Security, Legal, and/or Business Technology teams on technical or regulatory topics

• Strong ability to balance speed, compliance, and business needs in decision-making

• Excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics for diverse audiences

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in building scalable processes

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $131,000—$197,000 USD

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between: $117,000—$175,000 USD
