Interim Director, Clinical Trial Finance

Our client, a publicly traded life sciences company, is seeking an Interim Director of Clinical Trial Finance to support its Finance and Clinical Operations teams during a period of significant growth and development activity.

This position is fully remote. The role has a duration of 3-4 months.

Responsibilities:

• Lead clinical trial budgeting and forecasting activities across multiple active development programs.
• Partner closely with Clinical Operations leaders to develop and maintain study budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
• Analyze clinical trial expenditures and investigate budget-to-actual variances.
• Review enrollment assumptions, site activity, and other operational drivers that impact trial spending and financial projections.
• Provide financial guidance and business partnership support to cross-functional clinical and operational stakeholders.
• Support clinical trial accrual reviews and related financial reporting activities.
• Assist with annual budgeting, long-range planning, forecasting, and management reporting processes.
• Drive process improvements, reporting enhancements, and clinical finance best practices.

Requirements:

• 8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, clinical finance, or a related finance function.
• Direct experience supporting clinical trial budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience supporting late-stage clinical development programs strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success partnering with Clinical Operations and other business stakeholders.
• Experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences organizations.
• Strong understanding of clinical trial accruals, financial reporting, and planning processes.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical capabilities.
