BHC Alhambra Hospital is located in the beautiful city of Rosemead, California. Our 115 bed facility established in 1924 prides itself on upholding a standard of excellence that allows our patients to take the first step to recovery. BHC Alhambra Hospital is a private, fully accredited, full-service acute psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents and adults. BHC Alhambra is dedicated to providing quality behavioral health, substance abuse, and eating disorder treatment. We offer inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient options for individuals in the communities of the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County, and surrounding areas.

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the accurate processing of all payroll functions and accounts payable functions for the facility. This position may also provides support with Human Resources functions.

Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.

Experience : A minimum of two (2) years of accounts payable/payroll experience, preferably in a health care setting, with a working knowledge of personal computers, payroll/accounts payable systems, Lotus 1-2-3 or any combination of education, training or experience in a business office environment.

Additional Requirements: May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.

Key Responsibilities include:

1. Ensure the accurate processing of all new employees' payroll-related functions:

  • Enter payroll information for all new hires, ensuring the appropriate approval signatures are on all forms.
  • Enter all employee health and welfare benefit elections and 401(K) enrollments, ensuring the accurate eligibility of employees.
  • Enter all status changes for current employees, audit benefits eligibility based on status change, and stop benefit elections as appropriate

2. Process bi-weekly payroll in an accurate and timely fashion:

  • Receive time sheets from departments, audit for accuracy, and input time into the payroll system.
  • Maintain accurate records of all holiday, vacation and sick time (PTOs) to determine if time off has been earned.
  • Verify payroll reports prior to the run of the bi-weekly payroll run.
  • Print bi-weekly payroll checks and audit for accuracy prior to distribution.
  • Prepare all payroll tax deposits each month.
  • Respond quickly to all payroll-related problems.

3. Process employee terminations in the payroll system:

  • Enter accurate termination dates.
  • Mail termination paperwork to all discharged employees via certified mail.
  • Mail COBRA information via certified mail to all terminated employees who maintained health insurance.
