Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Maintenance Technician - Mechanical)
The primary function of the Maintenance Technician, Mechanical is to inspect, dismantle, assemble, replace, install, adjust, align, repair, and maintain all mechanical machinery, and hydraulic machinery.
Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency assignments to be performed.
Works as a member of a five-man crew, including three Maintenance Technicians, Mechanical and two Maintenance Technicians, Electrical, with one crew leader assigned to coordinate activities.
Observes, inspects, and evaluates mechanical maintenance components and problems located either on the Production Lines, in the warehouse or in the Finishing Division shop
Analyzes and identifies parts, equipment, and procedures necessary to complete repairs Obtains, reviews, and interprets hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical blueprints, schematics or sketches to determine repair, installation or inspection work requirements.
Transports or moves parts, equipment, and tools throughout warehouse, Finishing Division Shop, and Tin/Sheet Production Lines.
Inspects, dismantles, assembles, cleans, replaces, repairs, adjusts, installs and maintains mechanical, hydraulic, lubricating equipment, cranes and mill equipment as assigned.
Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, and shafts requiring the application of press, sliding, and running fits.
Sets up and operates burning equipment to dismantle mechanical assemblies or heat and cut material to size and shape.
Cleans, prepares, sets up, assembles, and welds parts using mig or stick technology, such as brackets, pipes, leaks, work surfaces, braces, pipe supports, shelving, covers, cable racks, and fastening parts.
Inspects mill equipment and cranes for proper operating characteristics, g1vmg specific consideration to mechanical defects, misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, and current operating conditions.
Cuts, bends, threads, and installs pipe and tubing, fittings, pumps, valves, and cylinders required for maintenance and operation of hydraulic, air, gas, water, coolant, and lubrication systems as required.
Operates power tools such as stationary and mobile power saws, grinders, and drill presses to make pins, shafts, bearings, fits, bore bushings, and other parts and equipment required for repairing and maintaining equipment.
Completes paperwork and documentation required by entering computer data into the dedicated work management computer software system.
Each task assigned to the worker may take anywhere from a few minutes to 10-12 hours to complete. There is no predictable or average time for completion of assigned tasks.
The worker performs 98% of the assigned duties within the Finishing Division, and approximately 2% of the duties when dispatched to other areas of the plant( aka the pump house or PLTCM areas). Education/Experience:
Position requires post-secondary education or experience to meet the demands of this traditional manufacturing environment. College or Technical Electrical Trade Education with Electrical Certification a plus
Successful candidates must also be familiar with computerized maintenance recording systems (e.g. MAXIMO).
5+ years heavy industrial electrical experience preferred.
Have the ability to learn the computerized recording system (MAXIMO).
Must be versed in all areas as noted below: hydraulics, lubrication, pneumatics, pumps, print reading, piping, welding, mechanical maintenance, power transmission, shop machines, tools & equip.
All candidates must be able to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays. Physical Demands & Environmental Factors
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, balancing, climbing, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching/shoulder positions, handling bilateral/unilateral, fingering bilateral/unilateral.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include far acuity, accommodation, and depth perception. Color vision is necessary to identify color-coded materials. Good or well-corrected vision is essential working safely around moving machinery
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, working around moving mechanical parts, noise intensity level, and safety equipment. Benefits:
