We are seeking to hire a full time Clinical Director for our residential SUD treatment facility in Murrieta, California!
JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Director is responsible for providing initial individual assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and case management for clients participating in the detox/residential alcohol/drug treatment at MSR. As a director and supervisor, this position also manages all therapists.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Masters degree required. Graduation from accredited college with the focus on psychology, social work, or behavioral health. Completes annual educational requirements.
License: Must be fully licensed as a therapist or social worker and will clinically supervise any licensed therapist or associate therapists, and will manage the direction, focus, and implementation of alcohol and drug treatment interventions in line with a CA state regulations and guidelines. Must have current CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire.
Experience: Minimum of 5,000 hours of supervised experience as a fully licensed therapist. .
JOB DUTIES
Management
- Helps ensure the delivery of quality services, positive outcomes, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide clinical supervision to counselors, and or therapists if fully licensed, and will provide performance evaluations and mentoring to clinical staff.
- Performs lead work functions over clinical staff, including participating in work planning, determining priorities for the work unit, and providing technical guidance and direction in unusual and nonstandard situations.
- Continuously monitors and refines the clinical program offerings to better serve clients.
- Quality control of client charts, reviewing and checking client charts/paperwork.
Clinical Services
- Provides therapy, substance abuse education, and support to clients and their family members
- Formulates goal-oriented treatment/service plans for clients and families to prevent recurrence of crises, promote adaptive behaviors, and to maintain or improve functioning
- Develops and implements treatment plans using assessments and input from client
- Coordinates with treatment team for follow-up support and services
- Completes timely reviews of progress, monthly reports, insurance utilization reviews
- Oversees clinical staffs development and implementation of appropriate discharge and relapse prevention planning with client and family.
- Actively participates as a member of the clients treatment team
- Prepares and conducts educational lectures on chemical dependency and related subjects.
- Participates in other committees and teams as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Crisis and Support
- Provides crisis and support services as needed.
- Makes decisions regarding emergency safety responses, discharging and consequences.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices sufficient to be able to perform a variety of lead work functions.
- Demonstrates knowledge and mastery of the fundamentals of the counseling process, which includes defining problems and maintaining an effective counseling relationship.
- Knowledge of Best Practice models specific to substance abuse treatment.
- Demonstrates ability to interact effectively and proactively with families, and other behavioral health professionals, and service providers.
- Possesses client engagement skills necessary to work effectively with adults.
- Writes clinically appropriate progress notes and utilization reviews to support clinical interventions with clients.
- Ability to use individual, group, or familial counseling interventions; demonstrates sensitivity to diversity and possesses multicultural clinical skills.
- Ability to provide crisis intervention and stabilization to clients.
- Able to maintain professional boundaries in working with others; maintains confidential information.
- Ability to make professional evaluations, decisions, and recommendations for treatment planning and implementation.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and some weekend work for appropriate delivery of services.
- Ability to work with clients with emotional and mental health related difficulties; able to respond quickly and appropriately to difficult behaviors and emergency situations.
- Ability to use accurate, clear and concise oral and written communication.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to explain procedures and requirements to the public and employees.
- Ability to critically think and analyze and communicate findings.
- Ability to work independently and perform with minimal direction.
- Ability to operate a variety of automated office equipment such as personal computers, copy machines, calculators, fax machines, telephone systems, etc. Software such as Microsoft Office products, and Electronic Health Records systems.
