Senior Software Engineer, App Performance - Core UI

As a Senior Frontend Engineer on the Core UI team, you'll push Roblox App performance to the next level - making it blazing fast and a joy to use. You'll own profiling, diagnosis, and end-to-end optimization of rendering, layout, and input pipelines to reduce frame time, eliminate jank, and build high-fidelity interfaces at scale. Our team sits at the intersection of performance engineering and product impact. You'll work on systems and surfaces used by every Roblox user and creator in every game session. You Will:

• Own profiling, diagnosis, and end-to-end optimization of rendering, layout, and input pipelines across mobile, desktop, VR, and consoles - reducing frame time, eliminating jank, and delivering smooth, natural scrolling.


• Design and build robust, extensible systems powering Roblox's core surfaces (Home, Avatar, Search, and more) used by hundreds of millions of users and creators.


• Create scalable solutions for building high-fidelity, high-performance interfaces that set the standard for UI quality across Roblox.


• Partner with engineering, product, and design teams to integrate shared solutions and deliver cohesive, high-quality user experiences.


• Collaborate with senior engineers and tech leads to shape architectural direction and raise the bar on UI performance across the org.

You Have:

• 5+ years of software development experience building large-scale, user-facing frontend applications with performance and high-quality user experience in mind.


• Deep expertise in modern frontend technologies. Strong command of frameworks such as React or similar, component-based architecture, and state management patterns for building maintainable user interfaces.


• Demonstrated ability to optimize frontend performance and diagnose issues. Knowledge of performance debugging, profiling, and benchmarking techniques on the client side.


• Strong understanding of software design principles and frontend architecture. Ability to design clean APIs and clear module boundaries.


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and drive alignment on technical solutions.

Nice to Have:

• Experience developing applications across multiple platforms (mobile, desktop, VR, consoles).


• Familiarity with C++ for understanding Roblox app and engine integration.


• Experience with Lua or React Native in a production environment.
