WATERSHED AND INDIGENOUS INTERPRETATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Job Description and Duties
STATE PARK INTERPRETER II (LIMITED-TERM) – MONTEREY DISTRICT / INTERPRETATION & EDUCATION
The reporting location for this position is at the Monterey District Office (2211 Garden Rd. Monterey, CA 93940). This position will work under the supervision of the Monterey District Interpretive Program Manager and receive project direction from the statewide Watershed Interpretive Program Manager with the Cannabis Watershed Protection Program (CWPP).
This new position will work closely with district, CWPP program staff, and contractors to design and implement a districtwide Watershed and Indigenous Interpretation Program Plan and associated education and exhibit plans to deepen public understanding of human relationships with the landscape since time imemmorial.The ideal candidate will be proficient in audience-centered interpretive methods and possess strong skills in interpretive planning, writing, exhibit design, and project management. They must be able to nurture dynamic partnerships with colleagues, contractors, community members, and tribal partners. The ideal candidate will have academic and/or work experience in the natural and cultural history of the Monterey Bay and Big Sur area and experience in co-creating interpretive programs with tribal communities.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.Training and development assignments may be considered.
This position is a 12 month Limited-Term position that may be extended and/or become permanent.

Working Conditions
This position involves frequent sitting and prolonged engagement with digital equipment (computers, tablets, and mobile devices). Occasional in-state travel will be required for field work that may include time outdoors in variable weather conditions and temperatures. May be required to hike on or off trail in steep and brushy terrain to visit CWPP field sites. Occasional lifting, moving, and carrying equipment up to 20 pounds

2. Please describe your experience in interpretive planning including the types of plans, your role, and plan outcomes.
3. Please describe your experience co-creating and/or consulting with a Tribal organization on an interpretive product.
