Estimator

We are hiring an Estimator to lead estimating efforts for public works and underground utility projects across Southern California. This is a senior leadership role for someone who can take full ownership of the number — from initial plan review through final bid submission — and play a key role in driving competitive success in the public sector.

Our work includes complex infrastructure projects such as sewer, storm drain, waterline, and utility systems. This role requires both technical depth and strategic thinking, with direct impact on win rate, pricing strategy, and overall business growth.

What You'll Own

• Lead estimating for public works projects including underground utilities, storm drains, water systems, and conduit

• Own the full bid process from scope review through final submission

• Perform quantity takeoffs and manage subcontractor and vendor pricing

• Analyze plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to develop accurate, competitive estimates

• Evaluate risk, build contingencies, and identify value engineering opportunities

• Coordinate with project management and field teams during bid handoff

• Track bid results, market pricing, and win/loss trends to refine estimating strategy

• Mentor and support junior estimators as the team grows

Requirements

• 8+ years of civil construction estimating experience
• 3–5+ years in a senior or lead estimating role
• Strong background in underground utilities and public works projects
• Proven success winning public agency bids (municipal, county, or utility districts)
• Strong ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
• Experience with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Sage/Timberline, or similar
• Knowledge of California prevailing wage and public contracting requirements
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and high-volume bids
