Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Deputy Labor Commissioner Regional Manager and Assistant Chief, the Deputy Labor Commissioner Supervisor (Senior Deputy, DLC Supervisor) plans, organizes, and directs the work of the Labor Commissioner's Retaliation Complaint Investigation Unit. The Senior Deputy is responsible for planning, organizing and reviewing the work of the staff in the investigation of retaliation complaints against employers.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. Working Conditions

This position is located at:

Sacramento, CA 95825

The incumbent will spend most of the time working both remotely and at their assigned District office, with occasional travel to other offices. The District Office is an air-conditioned office building with natural artificial lighting, and standard office equipment. Remote supervision of staff is an essential part of this position. Regular travel may be required.

This position requires exceptional skill in dealing with the public and in coordinating the activity of a local district office, and among other units, to effectively and productively advance the Labor Commissioner’s Office law enforcement efforts. This position works independently to handle management tasks, maintains management integrity by utilizing discretion responsibly, and communicates effectively with fellow staff and the public while adhering to and promoting the Department's Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals.
