Program Manager

The Program Manager oversees and coordinates programs from initial scope definition through manufacturing and delivery, ensuring that schedules, costs, and resources align with customer expectations and internal capabilities. This role collaborates closely with Engineering, Sales, and vendors to confirm accurate bills of materials, realistic timelines, and appropriate resource allocation. The Program Manager prepares and delivers customer-facing presentations, supports quoting and costing activities, and actively monitors program performance to ensure successful outcomes. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with customers, participate in key meetings, and follow products through the full manufacturing lifecycle in a growing aerospace and defense environment.
Responsibilities

Assist in the development and review of Statements of Work for potential programs, ensuring clarity of scope, deliverables, and expectations.

Support Engineering and Sales teams in estimating costs and determining resource requirements for potential programs.

Confirm and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and program schedules for assigned programs.

Act as a liaison with Engineering to ensure accurate BOMs, resource planning, and technical alignment for assigned programs.

Monitor vendor activity to ensure timely and quality support for assigned programs.

Track, monitor, and enforce program schedules, proactively identifying and addressing risks and delays.

Prepare clear, professional presentations for customer meetings related to assigned programs.

Use Microsoft Project to plan, update, and communicate program timelines and dependencies.

Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, to analyze data, track program metrics, and prepare reports.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth transition of programs through the manufacturing process.

Participate in customer meetings to discuss program status, address issues, and support long-term relationships.

Manage multiple responsibilities and projects simultaneously, effectively "wearing many hats" in a dynamic environment.
Essential Skills

Proven experience in program management or project management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Project for planning, tracking, and reporting on program schedules.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.

Ability to prepare and deliver clear, professional presentations for internal and customer meetings.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate across Engineering, Sales, and vendors to manage program scope, cost, and schedule.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs concurrently.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with customers and cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working in a manufacturing setting, ideally within aerospace and defense.

Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar business/financial software is preferred.

Comfort working in a small to mid-size company environment where responsibilities may be broad and varied.

Ability to work closely with customers, attend meetings, and represent programs professionally.

Interest in following products through the full lifecycle from concept through manufacturing.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing setting within a small to mid-size aerospace and defense company. You will work closely with an Engineering team of approximately eight employees and collaborate frequently with Sales and other departments. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The dress code is business casual. The environment supports close interaction with customers and direct exposure to the manufacturing process, providing visibility into how programs move from planning through production. The organization emphasizes stability and long-term employment, with very low attrition, and offers paid holidays and paid time off. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Patterson, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.07/hr.
