Staff Accountant
Western National Property Management is looking to fill a Staff Accountant position in our corporate office. Staff Accountant is responsible for monthly financial statement preparation, general ledger account analysis and general ledger reconciliation. Additional duties include month-end journal entries, cash management functions, bank reconciliations, and other roll-up reports. Staff Accountant works under the supervision of the Assistant Controller and must be a motivated self-starter with solid communication skills and accounting knowledge.
This position is offering $28.85 to 36.06 Per Hour Depending on Experience Including Bonus Potential, Plus Benefits!
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for timely and accurate issuance of financial statements for an assigned portfolio of apartment community projects on a monthly basis. Gathers, researches, analyzes and reconciles accounts from rent collections, payroll activities, and vendor payments.
Plan, organize, schedule, and record the activities of one or more specialized accounting functions accordingly to assigned schedules including preparation of monthly financial statements; completion of monthly bank reconciliations; recording cash receipts; set up of weekly funding; and ensure timely payment of mortgages and property taxes. Responsible for calculation and payment of management fees, asset fees, payroll advances, and owner’s distribution. Other duties include fulfilling audit or tax requests, assembling replacement reserve draws to lender, remitting unclaimed property, annual filing of 571s and entering/ uploading budgets.
Communicates and works closely as needed with onsite personnel, Property Management, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Asset Managers. Other contacts are banks, lenders, and clients.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and applications to include main frame terminals/personal computers, general software applications and keyboard facility.
Skill in both verbal and written communication.
Ten key by touch required.
Attention to detail and strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain current auto insurance. In addition, associate must maintain an acceptable driving record.
Education/Experience:
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting Required.
