Purchasing Clerk
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs daily purchasing activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Receives requisitions for purchasing and orders materials from the appropriate vendor.
2. As directed, prepares purchase orders or bid requests to obtain competitive quotes and analysis to ensure the most economical price consistent with quality and vendor performance.
3. Coordinates product availability and expedites delivery for the requestor.
4. Follows up with vendors regarding PO accuracy, delivery and pricing.
5. Assists in selecting products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
6. Maintains awareness of physical inventories regarding supplies and parts. Coordinates with appropriate personnel to ensure inventory levels are maintained.
7. Verifies receiving against purchase orders. Follows up on all back orders.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs other related duties as needed or assigned.
2. Generates related reports.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. High School Diploma.
2. Two or more years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing industry.
3. Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to organize workload, set priorities, and adhere to deadlines.
