Line Cook

Position: Line Cook.
Department: Kitchen.
Reports To: Shift Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

• Prepare and cook menu items according to the restaurant's recipes and specifications.
• Ensure all food products are of the highest quality, and freshness, and are prepared to order.
• Portion and plate food products according to established standards.

Cooking :

• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Grill, fry, bake, and sauté food items as needed.
• Monitor and maintain the proper temperature of cooking equipment.

Quality Control:

• Inspect food products for freshness and quality.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared according to the specified portion sizes and presentation guidelines.
• Taste and evaluate food products for quality before serving.

Cleanliness and Organization :

• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment by following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
• Organize and stock kitchen stations with necessary supplies and ingredients.

Teamwork:

• Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Communicate effectively with team members regarding food orders, preparation, and timing.
• Assist with training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years experience as a line cook in a restaurant or food service establishment is required.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• A culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary institute is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
• Ability to withstand high temperatures in a kitchen environment.

Working Conditions:

• Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and noise.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.

Salary and Benefits:

• $21-26/hr + tips DOE.
• Benefits may include health insurance MRA (medical reimbursement account), up to 50% coverage employer benefit coverage, free meal per day, commuter benefits.
