Metropolitan State Hospital is located in the City of Norwalk.

The Central Nursing Services/Central Staffing Office is seeking highly motivated candidates for the position of Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety), Limited-Term/Full-Time (12-Hour Shifts). Under supervision, as shift lead, incumbent monitors, leads, and directs assigned staff engaged in basic behavioral and psychiatric nursing care. Incumbents may also be assigned to especially difficult or complex duties such as directing or monitoring patient activities in a therapy program. Incumbents also work to maintain the safety and security of the hospital environment.

Candidates must be willing to work in any Unit/Program and any shift to meet the needs of the facility.

Training Expectations:
If selected it is mandatory that you attend New Employee Orientation (NEO) in its entirety. NEO can be scheduled up to 30 days for level of care staff (clinical).

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE. and One year of experience performing the duties of a Psychiatric Technician (Safety) or Psychiatric Technician in a California State hospital or developmental center.
