Area Warehouse Manager
Reports To: CEO
Location: Santa Fe Springs (3 days a week) and San Diego (2 days), CA
FLSA Status: Exempt
Supervisory Responsibility: Yes
Employment Type: Full-time
Travel Requirements: In addition to location split, up to 10% dependent on business needs
Schedule: Monday-Friday, with flexibility for weekends as needed
Pay Range: $70,000- $85,000/year (Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications in line with company pay practices) Job Summary:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse and facility operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, distribution, and facility maintenance. This role ensures that activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and profitably while leading a team of warehouse associates, forklift operators, delivery drivers, and other support staff as needed. The Warehouse Manager partners with leadership and other departments to maintain high service levels, accuracy, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily workflow of the warehouse and facility; schedules and organizes staff to ensure proper coverage across all shifts and delivery routes.
- Directly supervises warehouse associates, forklift operators, delivery drivers, and other facility support staff as needed.
- Hires, trains, and develops employees, including driver safety and forklift certification programs.
- Conducts timely, constructive performance evaluations with a focus on accountability and growth.
- Coaches, disciplines, and, when necessary, terminate employees, with HR partnership, in accordance with company policy and employment law.
- Ensures efficient warehouse operations by coordinating receiving, picking, packing, loading, and delivery functions.
- Oversees driver scheduling, routing, and delivery performance to ensure on-time service and customer satisfaction.
- Manages facility operations including building upkeep, equipment maintenance, vendor coordination, and compliance with safety and environmental standards
- Ensures compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety policies; conducts routine safety meetings and facility inspections.
- Monitors forklift operations, equipment maintenance, and certification requirements.
- Maintains inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, audits, and reporting; implements corrective actions to reduce shrinkage.
- Utilizes warehouse management systems (WMS) and reporting tools to track productivity, accuracy, and service KPIs.
- Identifies and implements process improvements to reduce costs and increase efficiency in warehouse and facility operations.
- Collaborates with procurement, logistics, and operations teams to optimize inventory flow, distribution, and space utilization.
- Prepares and submits accurate management reports, including labor hours, productivity metrics, facility status, and delivery performance.
- Attends and participates in scheduled and ad-hoc meetings to represent warehouse and facility operations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, including oversight of additional staff roles that may fall under warehouse and facility management.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage diverse teams including warehouse staff, delivery drivers, forklift operators, and facility support staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Thorough understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, distribution logistics, and facility management.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS), facility systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum five years of progressive warehouse operations and facility management experience required.
- Prior supervisory experience managing warehouse staff, delivery drivers, forklift operations, and facility teams strongly preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to traverse and access all areas of the warehouse.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, or crouch for extended periods
- Exposure to warehouse environment conditions (noise, dust, moving equipment, temperature fluctuations)
