Associate Accounting Analyst
Job Description and Duties
In charge of coordinating and handling the most complex accounting activities of the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) grants program funded through the Federal Trust Fund. Ensures the financial condition of all federal grant projects in the Federal Trust Fund. Controls and reconciles the federal trust cash account monthly and monitors the State Controller's Office (SCO) current account balance throughout the month. The performance of these duties ensures that sufficient funds are available in the SCO’s federal cash fund account. Prepares the SCO’s monthly reports and billings to the federal government promptly and efficiently to ensure a timely transfer of funds to the Federal Trust Fund. Prepares detailed and summarized specially developed reports of grant activities for Current Month Actual Cost Analysis Report by category, Truck Maintenance Report, Designated Personnel Report, Status of Documents in Process, Summary and Detail Cost Ledger Report.

Experience in reimbursable programs

Preferred additional education includes courses in statistics, business finance, mathematics, college composition, speech/oral communications and/or business composition
Be able to work effectively within the various complex accounting systems to generate reports
Knowledge of Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal)
Good working knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and professional accounting practices
A strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams and Adobe Acrobat
The ability to work independently and in a team environment
The ability to use sound judgment
