What you will do

We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Medical Assistant (MA) to join Cabrillo Cardiology in Oxnard. The ideal candidate will support physicians and clinical staff in providing quality patient care in a cardiology practice. Key responsibilities include assisting with patient intake, preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, performing EKGs, administering injections, and ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). The Medical Assistant will also assist with scheduling, referrals, and other administrative tasks as needed. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Medical Assistant – Cardiology Summary of Job Responsibilities:

• Greet and prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
• Perform EKGs and assist with cardiac diagnostic procedures as directed
• Administer medications and injections as ordered by providers
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and proper supplies
• Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during patient examinations and procedures
• Document patient information accurately and timely in the EHR
• Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and assist with patient follow-up
• Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and handling as needed
• Educate patients on prescribed treatments, procedures, and heart health practices
• Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and HIPAA regulations
• Support front and back-office operations as needed to ensure smooth clinic flow

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, or RMA) preferred
• Minimum of one-year Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare setting; cardiology experience preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Knowledge of EKGs, medical terminology, and basic pharmacology preferred
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support patient care
• Proof of MMR and Varicella vaccinations or titers
• Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 months
• Current Annual Health Clearance
• Reliable source of transportation
