Software Engineer, Enterprise
About Orb
Orb is on a mission to revolutionize billing infrastructure for the modern era of AI and software. We empower businesses to align their monetization with product usage—whether through seats, consumption, feature limits, or hybrid pricing models. Our developer-first, data-driven approach enables companies to automate their billing processes and adapt their pricing strategies with ease.
With Orb, revenue workflows are seamless for every team: developers love our intuitive API and extensibility, product managers iterate on pricing and packaging faster, finance teams gain fine-grained reporting for revenue recognition, and customer-facing teams build trust through billing transparency. Companies like Vercel, Pinecone, and Replit rely on Orb to power their most critical revenue initiatives.
Backed by $44.1 million in funding from top investors like Mayfield, Menlo Ventures, and Greylock, we’re building a hybrid, in-office culture in downtown San Francisco (3 days/week). Our team thrives on collaboration, focus, and kindness, with a shared commitment to solving high-impact problems for our customers. At Orb, every team member drives meaningful impact, and we’re just getting started.
About the role:
As an early engineer at Orb, you’ll help to build the technical foundations of a critical product that needs to be reliable and accurate at scale. You’ll work closely with our customers to understand pain points in their business processes, and help incorporate those insights into our product roadmap. Our customers rely on Orb to transform an inherently complex domain (billing, from data ingestion to subscription management and revenue recognition) into an efficient, powerful, and easy-to-use experience.
In this role you will:
Tackle a broad range of technical challenges with our team, like:
Our product data model should be simple to understand, and powerful enough to support the most complex billing arrangements for the most complex businesses
Our system needs to scale (with real-time ingestion and query) to the largest deployments, with high expectations for stability, performance, and experience – across the API and web app
Orb’s product approach centers around extensibility, providing straightforward out-of-the-box functionality, with powerful primitives that enable developers to build the billing experiences that best fit their product and customer needs
Collaborate across functions within and beyond the Enterprise team – from PM and design, to sales and customer success – to shape our product strategy, and deliver customer value from concept to implementation.

About you
You have 4+ years of experience in software engineering
Enthusiastic about working on a broad range of technical challenges across the stack
Attention to detail in designing a product with deep user empathy (in visual UX, API design, and everything in between)
Excited to engage with customers directly to shape the Orb product
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate (with support from Orb)
You might be a good addition if you:
Have worked on developer-facing products, have worked on features primarily targeting complex enterprise customers, or both
Thrive in navigating ambiguity and owning customer value delivery from end to end
Enjoy understanding the nitty-gritty of technical domains deeply
Please note: We value in-person collaboration and have built a hybrid, in office culture with 3 days/week at our HQ in downtown San Francisco. We see it as a way to achieve our mission faster, in an environment of rapid ideation, strong alignment, and that energy that makes work more fun. Unless specifically noted in the job above, please plan to join us in person in San Francisco.
