  Position Summary :

We are looking to fill the position of Lead Host for Henrietta, an intimate California Bistro and Deli in Echo Park.

Henrietta is 30+ seat California take on the deli and market by day, bistro by night restaurants of Rome and Europe. We are truly a small, seasonal restaurant around the corner with a focus on serving our local neighborhood from morning to night.

We are looking for someone that embodies the caring spirit of Henrietta and is able to take ownership of the dining room. The Lead Host will be the first person guests see when they walk through the door and will be responsible for setting the tone for the guest experience with a positive, caring and upbeat manner. The Lead Host will be responsible for running the door, managing the reservation book and assisting with the flow of service in the dining room. As a small restaurant, the Lead Host will be asked to engage in all aspects of service such as seating guests, running food, and clearing and re-setting tables. 

Lead Hosts will work alongside the entire FOH and BOH team and create a warm, positive and welcoming environment for staff and guests alike. This job is perfect for a problem solver who stays cool under pressure and loves hospitality, food and wants to be a part of small dynamic group of industry professionals. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Manage reservation book prior to service. Experience with Resy a plus.
• Checking voicemails and guest emails for any reservation updates.
• Manage the floor during service, keeping track of tables, turn times, and incoming reservations.
• Greet and seat guests.
• Balance reservations with a large percentage of walk-in guests.
• Communicate with guests in a kind and informative manner
• Arrive on time in a neat, clean uniform with proper grooming and personal hygiene.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Basic math skills (ability to make change)
• Basic reading, writing, and computer skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
• Ability to suggestively sell food and beverage items
• Ability to maintain composure and friendliness when under pressure

• Standing for the entire shift
• Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, pouring, carrying, and pushing
• Frequent use of hands/fingers for handling objects, tools, and repetitive motions

• Occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Regular communication with team members and ability to read
• Exposure to potential hazards such as cuts, slips, trips, falls, and burns
• Regular contact with water, sanitation solutions, meat, poultry, seafood, and produce.
