Principal System Security Architect
Job Description and Duties
THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.
Are you looking for a fast-paced and challenging position that will provide you with extremely valuable Security Architecture experience and frequent exposure to managers and staff in the Information Technology Branch(ITB)? The Employment Development Department (EDD) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the Enterprise Infrastructure Security Operations Section.
The Information Technology Specialist III is the Principal Infrastructure Security Architect responsible for designing modern enterprise security infrastructure. The incumbent serves as a specialized technical advisor and significantly contributes to developing and forming policies, practices, and standards related to enterprise security technology. The incumbent collaborates with and provides expert-level technical guidance to system owners on implementing, maintaining, and operating the organization's statewide information security technology systems --the incumbent will advise the Section chief and Division chief on future security technologies.
The IT Specialist III performs a wide range of expert technical tasks requiring innovative problem-solving and undertakes a variety of roles, from subject matter expert in security strategy to lead specialist in security oversight activities for ongoing projects. The incumbent mentors, trains, and supports section staff to ensure adherence to EDD's security standards and methods and that projects are completed on time.
The incumbent acts as principal Architect on systems software/hardware projects and/or information systems. The incumbent may work independently as the principal security architect on complex system assignments associated with EDD business applications or serve as a leader within project teams on enterprise security infrastructure services and security engineering systems projects.
This position is headquartered at 800 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA, and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the employee's responsibility.

Working Conditions
Visa Sponsorship

It may require extended-hour support, Monday through Friday, 6pm—10pm, staying past 10pm, or working on weekends and holidays. It may also require some traveling.Special Requirements

- Expert-level experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and digital certificates.
- Expert-level cloud security experience across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS, including Zero Trust architectures.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is Required. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.
