About the Role
Our mission is to help local news survive and renew, local businesses to grow and prosper, and most importantly local people’s life to be informed and improved that together will foster a unique, healthy and connected local community.
We are looking for ambitious talents who are committed to innovate in product, technology, or business, with the aim of engaging and empowering local media, local businesses, and local users.
The intelligent local information platform we are striving to build, NewsBreak, serves as a perfect liaison among local users, local media and local businesses.
We are looking for a highly skilled programmer who is comfortable with both front and back end programming. Full Stack Developers are responsible for developing and designing front end web architecture, ensuring the responsiveness of applications and working alongside graphic designers for web design features, among other duties.
Responsibilities
Full Stack Engineer will be required to see out a project from conception to final product, requiring good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services (Java / Go / Python).
- Develop responsive, performant web applications using modern frameworks (React, Next.js, or similar).
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality features end to end.
- Implement robust API integrations and efficient data processing pipelines.
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and continuous deployment cycles.
- Continuously improve performance, scalability, and reliability of existing systems.
Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Go, or Python).
- Solid experience with modern frontend technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Next.js).
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB), and caching (Redis).
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Knowledge of AI/ML, data processing, or automation pipelines.
- Exposure to high-traffic production environments and performance tuning.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $110,000-$225,000 annually. Pay may vary based on a number of factors including job-related skills, level, experience, geographic location and relevant education or training. At NewsBreak, we design our overall rewards package to attract top talents. Depending on the position, the role may also be eligible for discretionary bonus and options.
