Financial Clearance Specialist

Overview:

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Clearance, the Financial Clearance Supervisor will be responsible for managing and developing the Financial Clearance Team Leads and staff. The Financial Clearance Supervisor ensures that financial clearance is obtained prior to services being rendered, patient experience protocols are followed, and clearance is obtained in a timely manner to reduce related denials.

Responsibilities:

This is a remote role working PST.

Starting Pay $18.03

Primary Job Functions

  1. Collaborates with the Financial Clearance Manager to develop goals and strategies for the Financial Clearance Team.
  2. Performs quality reviews of patient accounts for accuracy in accordance with the policies and procedures for the Financial Clearance workflow.
  3. Provide timely performance feedback to the Financial Clearance Manager.
  4. Monitor adherence to policies and established procedures. Propose methods which assure effective execution of program responsibilities. Update policy and procedure manuals as required. Apprise staff of changes.
  5. Makes sound decisions and works closely with staff when developing and implementing operating procedures as they relate to the area.
  6. Provide training for new employees and re-training/coaching as needed.
Qualifications:

High school diploma required.

5-7 years of financial clearance experience in a medical practice or health care setting required.

Understanding of managed care contract types and concepts, specialty insurance and billing practices, and the ability to exercise professional competency in reviewing patient accounts to maximize reimbursement and minimize financial risk.

Demonstrated business communication skills including communicating well with patients and regional leadership. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Strong computer skills relevant to the position required. Significant experience using Excel, Power Point and Word required.

Self-starter who excels in a fast paced, data driven environment and shifting work environment.

Knowledge of and ability to articulate explanations of Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and other government assistance programs and regulations.

Ability to effectively incorporate the mission and core values into processes.

Ability to maintain and convey a positive attitude and customer service approach to program development.
