Senior Software Engineer - Marketplace Foundation
Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant distributed systems, including services, messaging systems, distributed databases, and cloud-based solutions.
- Implement dependable backend code with thorough unit and integration tests.
- Develop systems supporting the efficient operation of Roblox Marketplace services.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues in distributed systems and improve production support outcomes.
- Optimize performance, latency, throughput, scalability, and fault tolerance of critical Marketplace systems.
- Collaborate with product managers, research scientists, and other engineering teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design sessions.
- Define technical vision and advocate for software development best practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software development experience with significant distributed-systems experience.
- Strong understanding of distributed-systems concepts including the CAP theorem, consistency models, concurrency control, fault tolerance, and consensus algorithms such as Paxos, Raft, and PBFT.
- Proficiency in one or more of C#, Go, Rust, Java, C++, or Python.
- Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm.
- Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, and MongoDB.
- Familiarity with Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus, and the ELK stack.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to complex technical challenges.
- Experience defining technical vision and providing technical leadership.
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and continuously learn.
