Supply Chain Commodity Manager

As the Supply Chain Commodity Manager, you will oversee the purchase of commodities, update our inventory strategy, and liaise with suppliers to ensure the stability of our supply chain. You will also ensure that project-approved budgets are adhered to. To ensure success as our commodity manager, you should have strong business acumen and excellent knowledge of commodity markets, both domestic and international. Ultimately, a top-notch commodity manager should be able to effectively navigate market risks to help the business reach its commodity goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the company supply chain by sourcing, reviewing, and purchasing commodities.
- Update inventory strategies needed to increase ATP while managing stock levels
- Leads the development and execution of supplier sourcing strategies
- Negotiate favorable prices and terms of purchase to maximize best commodity sourcing practices.
- Build and maintain good relationships with commodity suppliers and distributors.
- Analyze market trends and identify any risks when sourcing and procuring commodities.
- Supervise and train department personnel when they prepare contracts and purchase orders.
- Resolve vendor disputes and any commodity-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and standards.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate contracts with suppliers
COMPETENCIES
- Solid knowledge of financial markets that influence commodity prices.
- Good negotiation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors and suppliers.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well with subordinate personnel from various departments.
- High level of motivation and ability to manage several tasks at once.
- Proficiency with MS Office products
- Proven problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software like Epicor
- Interest in innovative technologies, such as automation software
- Comfort with leading and training employees
Education and/or Experience:
- BA in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics, or equivalent experience
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of supply chain, logistics, or warehouse management experience
- APIM Certified Production Inventory Management (CPIM)
- At least four years' experience in supply chain or commodity management.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
