NCI Affiliates is a mission-driven non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with developmental disabilities in San Luis Obispo County for nearly 50 years. Through vocational training, education, adaptive living skills, advocacy, and community living services, NCI Affiliates promotes independence and inclusion. As a Thrift Store Distribution Job Coach, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals as they work toward their vocational goals, ensuring the smooth operation of the thrift store, and collaborating with supervisory staff to maximize the impact of community donations. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide courteous and professional support to individuals served and the community within the thrift store environment.
- Deliver ongoing instruction and guidance to individuals to foster vocational growth and achieve training objectives.
- Prepare and maintain daily cash records, inventory logs, and deposit receipts accurately.
- Oversee the timely sorting, pricing, and stocking of all donated items to ensure efficient store operations.
- Stay informed about current sales, promotions, payment and exchange policies, and security practices.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding daily operations and any issues that arise.
- Work collaboratively with team members and be flexible in assisting at different sites as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid California driver’s license- driving is required.
- Ability to provide ongoing proof of California state-required auto insurance.
- Ability to pass a background check through the California Department of Justice and the FBI.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Patience and the ability to motivate and support others.
- Basic computer and technology skills.
- Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, and walk regularly; occasionally able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Compensation
$23.00 per hour plus benefits and perks.
