Quality Improvement Specialist

A mission-driven nonprofit organization serving children and families across Los Angeles is looking for a Quality Improvement Specialist to join their team. This is a newly launched program, which means you will not just be maintaining existing processes but actually helping build and strengthen the quality assurance framework from the ground up. Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with LA County Department of Mental Health to ensure ongoing compliance with State and County standards
• Audit clinical documentation for Medi-Cal, Short Doyle, and EPSDT compliance
• Conduct regular spot checks and internal documentation reviews
• Prepare for State Audit Reviews and LA County DMH Program Reviews
• Generate monthly compliance and quality reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Provide QA and QI feedback to clinical staff and support new hire documentation training
• Monitor HIPAA compliance and clinical risk standards across the program
• Partner with Program Managers and Clinical Supervisors to identify and address service delivery gaps
• Support data collection and program evaluation efforts
• Participate in Quality Improvement meetings internally and with DMH representatives

Qualifications

• Master's degree highly preferred in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mental health services
• Direct LA County DMH experience is required
• Strong working knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation standards, including Short Doyle and EPSDT
• Experience with Welligent or EXYM electronic health record systems is a strong plus
• Proficient in Excel with strong reporting and data management skills
• Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working within an evolving and newly launched program
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
