Staff Services Manager I
Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager III (SSM III), the Staff Services Manager I (SSMI) provides direct supervision to a group of analysts within the Financial Information System for California (Fi$Cal) Section of the Contracts and Purchasing Unit (CPU). Duties require strong managerial and organizational skills, analytical ability, effective writing and communication skills, knowledge of state procedures for purchasing non-IT goods and services, knowledge of training methods and proficiency with Microsoft Suite. The SSM I works under strict time constraints.

- Extensive knowledge of procurement management principles, regulations, and practices
- The ability to manage and appropriately prioritize assignments of multiple projects, at times involving stakeholder outreach and coordination
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop positive working relationships with all levels of staff, both internally and external
- Excellent critical thinking skills used to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize available information
- Strong problem solving and decision-making capabilities
- Strong team building and leadership skills
- Experience in state procurement and Fi$Cal
- Experience in office administration, operations management, or similar leadership role
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software
