The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, Department of Urology is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking faculty member(s) with expertise in gender-affirming urologic and pelvic surgery to join a large, collaborative, multidisciplinary program providing comprehensive care for transgender and nonbinary patients.
The successful candidate(s) will manage a patient population from a broad referral base and will provide clinical care at multiple sites, including VAHCS San Diego. Clinical responsibilities will include gender-affirming surgical procedures such as vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, metoidioplasty, and related reconstructive care. The successful candidate(s) will also participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, and engage in scholarly activity aligned with the advancement of gender-affirming care. This position offers a dynamic academic environment with opportunities for clinical program development and leadership within a growing area of specialty care.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent or an MD/PhD in health-related fields.
Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the California Medical Board.
Candidates must have completed a Urology residency program.
Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Urology.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Candidates must also have a completed a fellowship in Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery (GURS), Gender-Affirming Surgery, or related subspecialty by the time of the start of the appointment.
Preferred qualifications
Candidates with an established or emerging record of scholarly activity in gender-affirming care or reconstructive urology are preferred.
Candidates with a minimum of one year working within a multidisciplinary team caring for transgender and nonbinary patients are preferred.
