Job Description

We're looking for a seasoned Staff Software Engineer with strong embedded C++ expertise to support a next-generation space and satellite initiative. This hybrid role blends engineering leadership with hands-on development in real-time operating systems like VxWorks, ideally suited for candidates who thrive in agile, fast-paced environments. The engineer will drive both technical execution and agile delivery, contributing directly to high-impact, mission-critical software systems.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.

• Guide the team on Agile principles and help remove impediments to progress.

• Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to ensure backlog clarity and prioritization.

• Track and report team metrics to drive continuous improvement.

• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and transparency.

• Utilize Git for version control and collaboration across development teams.

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software in C++ for real-time systems.

• Work within the VxWorks RTOS environment to support satellite and space system functionality.

• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging of embedded systems.

• Collaborate with systems engineers and other developers to meet performance and reliability requirements.

• Ensure compliance with software development standards and documentation.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development using C++.

• Strong experience with VxWorks and real-time operating systems.

• Proven experience working in real-time environments with strict timing and reliability constraints.

• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.

• Proficiency with Git for source control and team collaboration.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace, defense, or satellite systems.

• Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Rally.

• Experience with hardware/software integration and low-level debugging.

• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Huntington Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00/hr.
