About the Role Join Keysight’s Software and AI Labs to design and implement distributed digital data infrastructures for cutting-edge Test & Measurement solutions. Your work will enable disruptive capabilities across high-growth industries, including communications, quantum, semiconductor, and defense.

Responsibilities

As an Expert Software Engineer, you will lead the evaluation, prototyping, and adoption of emerging technologies to drive competitive differentiation for the next generation of Keysight products and solutions. Working with architects, product teams, and domain experts, you will transform advanced concepts into production-ready capabilities that deliver unique functionality, superior performance, and market-leading solutions across high-growth Test & Measurement markets. This is a highly visible technical role focused on high-performance data streaming and processing technologies for systems involving CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, SmartNICs, and other computing platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product architects, technical leads, and product owners to understand requirements and identify technology opportunities.

  • Investigate and prototype new high-performance data processing and streaming technologies to evaluate feasibility and business impact.

  • Influence technical direction and product architecture through proof-of-concepts and system-level demonstrations.

  • Design and develop reusable software components that enable broad adoption of new technologies across multiple product lines.

  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices, code quality, and architectural excellence.

This position will be based in our headquarters in Santa Rosa, CA. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate to Santa Rosa, CA or nearby to be able to work from the office for a significant amount of time.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Strong software design and object-oriented development experience using Modern C++.

  • 4+ years of industry experience developing hardware control or performance-critical software systems.

  • Experience with modern I/O technologies and architectures such as PCIe.

  • Solid understanding of device drivers, operating systems, and real-time processing architectures.

  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects across multiple teams and organizations.

This position requires access to technology and/or technical data that is subject to U.S. export controls. You must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Government.    

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly, develop and troubleshoot across the full software stack, from register-level debugging through application-level analysis.

  • Experience developing cross-platform software on Windows, Linux, and Embedded Linux platforms.

  • Proficiency in additional languages such as Python and C#.

  • Hands-on experience with data processing and streaming technologies.

  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and performance optimization.

  • Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Electronic Test & Measurement applications or instrument architectures is a plus.

The level of role and salary will be based on applicable experience, education and skills; Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the Salary Range listed below.

California Pay Range: MIN $143,050 - MIDPT $190,730 MAX $238,420

Note: For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region.

This role is eligible for Keysight Results Bonus Program
