Predictive Science Internships

Predictive Science Incorporated (PSI), an employee-owned company in San Diego California, is looking for a paid student intern to help our team conduct research in the field of infectious diseases modeling, and COVID-19, in particular. Given the current situation, the successful candidate will have to work from home, and supply their own computer (although they will be able to access computers at PSI for analysis). Additionally, students who are not located in San Diego will be considered while remote work remains the norm. However, the student must be eligible to work in the USA.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a B.S. degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics or related technical field.
• Excellent programming skills and experience with one of the following languages: Python, R, Java, and/or JavaScript.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and desire to learn new skills.
• Self-driven, highly motivated and able to work independently.
• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux and/or Mac OS X operating system is a plus, but not required.
• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux scripting languages, front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus, but not required.
• Experience using R and/or relational databases would be ideal.

Most importantly, we are looking for a highly motivated individual who is keen to learn new skills, with an ability to work independently.

Duties:

• Help develop, test and deploy data scraping, processing and visualizing routines.
• Assist in testing and deploying our infectious diseases modeling package.
• Assist in writing technical and user documentation.
• Other duties may include managing computers, performing backups, and website development.
