Job Description and Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support immigration related data collection and tracking, as well as corresponding training.

• Gather, collect, and analyze data and prepare the annual report to the Legislature on the use of remote technology in court proceedings.

• Help collect data and prepare the two semi-annual reports to the Legislature on the purchase of electronic recording equipment.

• Help maintain the automated court reporter recruitment, retention, and attrition dynamic dashboard and related factsheet.

• Assist with Task Force and Working Group meetings, including helping with scheduling, drafting agendas, and maintaining documentation.

• Prepare submissions by the Policy and Research Office for the Two-Week Advance report.

• Prepare submissions by the Policy and Research Office for the Administrative Director’s Report.

• Assist in managing the Office’s web content, including on the Hub and court reporter dashboard.

The Judicial Council offers hybrid work arrangements for many positions. The successful candidate will be expected to work in person at the Judicial Council’s Sacramento office at least two days per week, based on their office leader’s direction, and reside in the areas surrounding this location. To be eligible for Judicial Council employment and participation in the Judicial Council’s Hybrid Work Program, a prospective or current employee’s primary residence/remote work location must be in the State of California and within a 150-mile driving radius of their assigned reporting location.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in public administration, research methodology, business administration, communication, or a directly related field that would provide the knowledge and skills necessary for the assigned area. An additional four (4) years of professional experience as noted above may substitute for the bachelor’s degree. Or, additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE OF:

• Basic concepts and methods of project management;

• Proofreading and writing;

• Principles and techniques of preparing effective oral presentations;

• Principles and methods of data collection and analysis; and

• Use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

SKILL IN:

• Critical thinking and applying creativity to analysis;

• Collaborating with team members;

• Effectively communicating;

• Exercising confidentiality;

• Compiling, sorting, and articulating issues and recommendations;

• Organizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing competing demands within assigned projects;

• Preparing reports and presentations; and,

• Providing attention to detail.

PAYMENT & BENEFITS

$6,909 - $9,673 per month

Please note due to statewide fiscal conditions, the posted salary range is subject to a temporary 3% reduction. In exchange for this temporary reduction, judicial branch employees accrue an additional 5 hours of paid personal leave per month through June 30, 2027.
