Responsibilities
- Perform initial diagnostic evaluation noting behavioral symptoms which may indicate organic and/or mental disorders in children and in interpersonal/ family dysfunctions related to child and adult patients/clients.
- Determine and develop appropriate treatment plans for all clients in the caseload.
- Conduct individual, group and family counseling/therapy sessions for clients toward the goal of achieving more adequate, satisfying and productive adjustments in the community and provide case management services as appropriate.
- Participate in developing individual and group treatment plans utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic, psychosocial and psycho educational modalities.
- Perform suicide/risk assessments.
- Conduct home visits and/or field-based services.
- Crisis Intervention. Make client referrals and plan discharge procedures.
- Assess progress of clients on a selected basis and propose modifications to rehabilitation plans in order to meet goals agreed upon by the clients/patients.
- Prepare and maintain psychosocial case histories for use in diagnostic evaluations and of patient progress.
- Supervise graduate interns.
- Provide outreach counseling and refer clients to appropriate mental health program service resources.
- Collect and evaluate medical or psychosocial data such as case histories, behavior patterns and family relationships of patients/clients.
- Analyze factors which exert an adverse effect upon health problems, treatment, or recovery, or which may contribute to or are responsible for mental illness or affect the potential for rehabilitation.
- Conduct treatment groups in schools and other community settings with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children toward the goal of achieving higher functioning in interpersonal relationships and learning.
- Work as a psychiatric team member with other treatment disciplines.
- Utilize Trauma Informed Care and other Evidence-based practices.
- Provide consultation and education services.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and responding to after-hours calls (Youth Services Center).
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and responding to after-hours calls from Psychiatric Emergency Services (Youth Case Management).
- Perform related duties as assigned.
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.
