Job Posting Title: Customs Specialist - Entry Writer

Summary

The purpose of this role is to perform Customs business activities. The Customs Specialist is responsible for transactions with U.S. Customs ( CBP) concerning the entry and admissibility of merchandise. This includes conducting effective research, communicating with the client and/ or CBP, managing Customs entries, monitoring clearance, and recordkeeping.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review of Customs documents to be filed with CBP ensuring accuracy.
  • Verify classification and valuation with the importer when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations.
  • Obtain the appropriate documents required to support claims or disclaims.
  • Ensure the proper and timely payment of duties, taxes, or other charges assessed or collected by CBP on merchandise by reason of its importation.
  • Maintain documents required under 19 CFR 163.
  • Monitor and track customs clearances and resolve any delays or issues.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, customs brokers, and government agencies to resolve customs-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
  • Attend provided trainings.
  • Support the development and implementation of customs compliance procedures and policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Customs brokerage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • U.S. Customs Brokerage License
  • Certification in customs compliance or a related area.
  • Experience working with a variety of industries and commodities.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, processes, and documentation.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in customs declarations and record-keeping.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with ACE Secure Data Portal

Language skills

  • Fluent in English (oral and written)

Computer Literacy

  • Proficient in using customs management software and systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

For this position, the expected base pay range is $22.50 – $30.50 Hourly. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
