Assistant Director of Nursing Education

The Opportunity

This is a senior academic leadership role at the intersection of nursing education, clinical operations, and program compliance. You'll work directly alongside the Director to shape every aspect of a pre- and post-licensure nursing program — from clinical placement strategy to faculty oversight and state regulatory reporting. Your work directly influences the quality of nurses entering patient care.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Co-lead the planning, development, and evaluation of all nursing program functions with the Director
  • Prepare written materials, data reports, and documentation for state, Board, and accreditation processes — including proposals, self-studies, and site visits
  • Assess clinical agencies for their ability to meet course objectives and ensure Facility Approval Applications are completed before rotations begin
  • Build and maintain rotation matrices, clinical calendars, and assignment schedules — keeping everything on track
  • Monitor faculty compliance with student clinical experience policies and track timely completion of theory and clinical evaluations
  • Maintain student, faculty, and clinical site evaluation records in accordance with program policy
  • Support strategic planning and continuously drive improvements in instructional quality
  • Verify students meet all graduation requirements and are prepared for California state licensing exams
  • Advise prospective students on program planning and pathways
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and safety regulations affecting nursing education
  • Teach theory or clinical courses approximately half of your time

What We're Looking For

Education & Licensure

  • Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution, with coursework in nursing, education, or administration
  • Current, active California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) license

Experience

  • At least 3 years leading a nursing program
  • At least 3 years as full-time faculty in a pre- or post-licensure nursing program
  • At least 1 year teaching in an online learning environment
  • At least 4 years of continuous full-time RN direct patient care within the last 5 years, in one or more of: geriatrics, medical-surgical, mental health/psychiatric, obstetrics, or pediatrics

Skills

  • Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a structured academic environment
  • Action-oriented, innovative, and adaptable in approach
