Investigative Services Unit (ISU) - Office Technician (T)
Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Correctional Lieutenant, Investigative Services Unit (ISU), this position is expected to exercise a high degree of initiative and independence in assuming responsibility for providing overall clerical support. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Coordinates the daily operations of the ISU assuring that any unauthorized person does not gain entry and access to confidential materials; provides direct clerical support to the Correctional Lieutenant and Correctional Sergeant which includes: receipt, processing, routing, and tracking of confidential incident reports and all pertinent paperwork; typing from a Dictaphone, drafts and handwritten copy, confidential reports (Internal Affairs) involving San Quentin employees and incarcerated people; provides clerical support to the Institutional Gang Investigator, Investigative Sergeant, Squad Sergeant, and nine Correctional Officers (Squad).
Daily contact with representatives from the District Attorney's Officer, officers from other California Correctional Facilities, and Peace Officers from city police and county sheriff’s departments representing statewide offices. Completion and distribution of gang validation packages. Closure and filing of incident report packages.
Prepares Disposition of Arrest and Court Action and Will Not Prosecutes for distribution to appropriate personnel or referral to the District Attorney's Officer. Daily contact with the San Quentin Records, Disciplinary, and Appeals Offices. Monitors the timely completion of Departmental Personnel Annual Performance Reports.
Establishes and maintains a tracking log on Internal Affairs investigations. Orders supplies for the unit and maintains inventory of equipment and furniture. Attends all training, meetings, and seminars as needed or required. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.
San Quentin Rehab Center is California’s oldest and best-known correctional institution, which was established on the site currently known as Point San Quentin, in July of 1852, as an answer to the rampant lawlessness in California at the time. The prison rests overlooking the bay on 432 acres and is located just 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the county of Marin. The walled prison is made up of four (4) large cell blocks (West, South, North, and East Block), one (1) maximum security cell block (the Adjustment Center), Central Health Care Service Building, a medium security dorm setting and a minimum-security firehouse.
Special Requirements

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
