Job Description and Duties

This is an exciting opportunity to help promote some of California's premier fisheries and desertregion biodiversity. This job will allow you to work in a range of conditions, from the high Sierra to Death Valley as a part of a dynamic fisheries team. Work will include leading trout in the classroom events, attending fishing derbies, leading fishing in the city events, and creel sampling.

Under the close supervision of a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the Fish and Wildlife Interpreter I works in concert with aquatic education program, leads and partners to carry out CDFW’s Urban Fishing Program (Fishing in the City) and Classroom Aquarium Education Program. The incumbent also supports or coordinates regional outreach, education, and interpretation events and special projects, such as Earthday Festivals, TriCounty Fair, and Opening Day outreach.

Working Conditions

This job entails office and outdoor event work that includes working weekdays, weekends, nights, and some holidays, working in adverse weather conditions including: cold, heat, rain, snow, or high winds and will be required to travel up to 25% throughout the Region, State, and bordering states as requested or needed. The Position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform identifying the employee as CDFW staff. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational needs .

• Grant Writing or Reporting Experience
• Event Planning or Program Development Background
