Hydroelectric Plant Mechanic II
Job Description and Duties
Under direction of the Assistant Lead Planner Scheduler, the Planner Scheduler plans, organizes, and schedules routine and major mechanical maintenance and construction activities for hydroelectric generating and pumping plants, aqueducts, reservoirs, canals, pipelines, dams, and related State Water Project facilities. The incumbent coordinates maintenance activities, outages, materials, schedules, costs, and resources; prepares work plans and maintenance documentation; monitors work progress; and supports preventive and predictive maintenance programs while coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, contractors, and other field personnel. The incumbent also assists with emergency and outage activities and ensures compliance with safety requirements and procedures.

Must have a valid California Class C license as incumbent will be required to operate automotive vehicles on public roadways, travel to remote areas within the field division is necessary to perform the requirements of this position.
This is a sensitive position and is subject to substance abuse testing set forth in California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) Regulations 599.960 - 599.966.
Under the provisions of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard CIP-004 as part of the Energy Policy of 2005, this position has authorized cyber access to or unescorted physical access around critical cyber assets and is subject to a satisfactory background check prior to appointment and every seven years thereafter.
This position is not eligible for telework.

- Experience planning and scheduling mechanical maintenance.
- Experience coordinating preventive, predictive, and major maintenance.
- Experience developing maintenance schedules, priorities, and timelines.
- Experience coordinating work with departments, trades, and contractors.
- Experience coordinating equipment outages and shutdowns.
- Experience preparing job scopes, work plans, and material lists.
- Experience estimating and tracking maintenance costs.
- Experience ordering and tracking materials and parts.
- Experience maintaining maintenance records and reports.
- Experience with pumps, turbines, valves, piping, hydraulic systems, or generators.
- Experience with hydroelectric plants, pumping plants, or water conveyance facilities.
- Experience monitoring work and adjusting schedules as needed.
- Experience with JHA, safety planning, and maintenance safety.
- Experience reading mechanical drawings, diagrams, manuals, and specifications.
- Experience tracking work completion and preparing reports.
- Experience managing multiple maintenance activities and priorities.
- Experience using Excel, Word, SharePoint, and other computer systems.
The successful candidate should be able to work cooperatively with others, maintain reliable attendance, exercise good judgment, and effectively manage multiple priorities.
