Senior Product Manager

CPM Educational Program
Elk Grove, CA

Full-time

Description

Who We Are

CPM Educational Program’s mission is to empower mathematics students and teachers through exemplary curriculum, professional development, and leadership. Our teacher-supporting, student-centered, problem-based classroom solutions for grades 6–12 foster engagement and equity in the classroom, while we strive to cultivate these same values within our workplace culture.

Your Role at a Glance

The Senior Product Manager is a full-time, exempt, role that reports to the Director of Product Management in the Technology Development department.

This position is responsible for driving the success of our user-facing products while helping the director of product management and other leaders evolve our organization into a truly product-led company. You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, and our curriculum team to move toward a culture of collaborative, data-informed discovery.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a "full-stack" PM capacity - an individual contributor who is equally comfortable digging into user analytics as they are navigating complex stakeholder relationships to ensure our products deliver maximum value.

This role does not carry any supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead Product Discovery: Own the end-to-end discovery process for new features and products, ensuring we solve the right problems for admins, teachers, and students.
  • Bridge Curriculum and Product: Establish a productive, peer-level partnership with the Curriculum and Assessment team; collaborating to define the "why" and "what" before moving to technical execution.
  • Support Product-Led Transformation: Partner with the Director of Product Management to implement product-led growth (PLG) strategies and product operations that move the company toward a more proactive, outcome-oriented model.
  • Drive Data-Informed Decisions: Serve as a "scrappy" data advocate by using product analytic tools to track user journeys, identify friction, and validate hypotheses.
  • Advocate for the User: Bring the "voice of the classroom" into every meeting, using research, empathy, and usage data to guide prioritization and roadmapping.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work seamlessly with Engineering, Product Design, Marketing, Curriculum, Professional Learning, and Customer Success to ensure our product vision is executed effectively and transparently.
  • Elevate Product Standards: Assist in refining our product management workflows and tools to bring clarity and structure to our development process.

Additional responsibilities aligned with the needs of the organization.

Your Background and Expertise

To thrive in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Education and/or Experience:

      • Experience with Product-Led Growth (PLG), including optimizing onboarding flows and identifying engagement loops.
      • Excellent communication and "influence without authority" skills, particularly when managing stakeholders with deep subject matter expertise.
      • Strategic Market Fluency: A proven ability to conduct competitive analysis and market research, with a track record of translating those insights into a defensible and differentiated product roadmap.
      • Familiarity with Agile development and the ability to bridge technical and non-technical requirements.
    • Nice to Have
      • Prior experience helping a company transition from a feature request to a product-led or product-ops model.
      • Experience in curriculum, assessment, or instructional technology.
      • Proficiency in self-service analytics, including creating dashboards, instrumenting user events, and establishing KPIs.
      • Experience using ProdPad or similar outcome-based roadmapping tools.
      • Demonstrated success in working in ambiguity and helping build structure where it doesn’t yet exist.
      • Experience managing non-technical products, particularly print curriculum or educational services.
      • Experience in design methodology.
  • Key Competencies: High level of integrity, industriousness, and passion for transforming education. Exceptional time management, prioritization, and organizational skills. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English. Ability to communicate successfully when collaborating with coworkers. Ability to take written and/or verbal instruction.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematics.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: In addition to the required and preferred experience noted above, an individual should have knowledge of Google Workspace, familiarity with basic office equipment and technology (including Internet, email, telephone, and computers), and the ability to learn and use new or unfamiliar software.
