Assistant Commissioner
Job Description and Duties
Under administrative direction, plans, organizes and directs either the service and staff programs or field enforcement programs of the Department of California Highway Patrol; advises the Commissioner on issues of policy and adminstration; serves as alternate to the Commissioner as assigned; and performs other related work.
Special Requirements
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)serves as documentation of each applicant's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Each question must be numbered and addressed in the same order as the questions below. SOQ must be typed, no more than three pages in length, and 12-pt Arial font. Resumes do not substitute for the SOQ.
1. Use current and prior experience to describe the importance of management's role in the development and implementation of departmental processes and operations to reduce the Mileage Death Rate. Additionally, please describe what you have done as chief to strengthen the Department's role as the California state police and to help reduce both overall crimes and crimes on State property. 2. Provide specific examples in your current and prior roles demonstrating your ability to develop and implement strategies to address and resolve administrative and operational problems (e.g., personnel, equipment, enforcement policies, information technology, and fiscal management). 3. Provide specific examples to describe how you have implemented and tracked changes within your command to meet the Commissioner's Priorities and Expectations.Benefits
