Working Conditions
• This position is located in the Riverpoint Marketplace area of West Sacramento near the IKEA. Our building offers a free parking lot to employees and is within walking distance of numerous restaurants and shops.
• This position is eligible for a hybrid telework option, in accordance with CAL FIRE’s telework policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.• Incumbents must be able to transport, lift, move, or carry up to 25lbs of various types of equipment to perform duties listed in the essential functions. This position supports a statewide public safety technology environment and requires the ability to coordinate work across multiple programs, platforms, services, and technical teams. The incumbent must be able to exercise sound judgment, communicate effectively, manage competing priorities, and make operational decisions appropriate for a mission-driven technology environment. The incumbent must have strong knowledge of digital service delivery, service ownership, user-centered design, accessibility, business analysis, platform governance, data-informed decision-making, and technology operations. The incumbent must be able to lead staff, coordinate with executive and program stakeholders, evaluate service impacts, manage risk, and ensure solutions are secure, accessible, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards. Statewide travel may be required up to 5% and may include overnight stays. The position may require work outside normal business hours to support urgent service issues, emergency operations, major releases, executive requests, or mission-critical technology needs.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
• Experience designing, supporting, or troubleshooting enterprise Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), wireless, firewall, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), or Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) environments.
• Knowledge of routing, switching, network segmentation, firewall policy, load balancing, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Internet Protocol Address Management (IPAM), and network monitoring tools.
• Experience supporting network security, vulnerability remediation, configuration standards, access control, logging, and operational hardening.
• Experience resolving complex connectivity, performance, latency, routing, firewall, or site outage issues in a production environment.
• Experience with change management, implementation planning, maintenance windows, rollback planning, technical diagrams, and operational documentation.
• Experience coordinating with telecommunications providers, vendors, data center teams, cloud teams, field IT staff, and security teams is desirable.

SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE

- Describe your experience designing or managing enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure. What routing protocols, switching technologies, and network tools did you work with and at what scale?
- Describe a complex network outage or performance issue you diagnosed and resolved. Walk through your troubleshooting methodology and how you minimized impact to operations.
- Describe your experience administering firewalls, VPNs, or network security policies in an enterprise environment. What tools did you use and how did you ensure compliance with security standards?
- Describe your experience providing network support to remote or field locations. How did you manage support requests, coordinate with on-site staff, and maintain service levels?
